The CPES Group

The Communications Professionals Economic Stimulus Group (CPES) began in 2008, partially in response to the tumultuous economic conditions and technological developments at the time that changed forever the nature of work for many people.
CPES members are experts in various communications fields, ranging from public relations to marketing, from external to internal communications, from corporate writing to journalism to social media, and from crisis communications to issues management. They have experience in financial, health, regulatory/government, consumer product, not-for-profit and other sectors. Their common ground? All are freelance and contract professionals. All are seasoned individuals with considerable track records in their fields.
While some would call CPES a support group, it might more aptly be called a study group that shares information:
-
Members and outside experts present at monthly group meetings (usually the first Monday of the month, from September to June) on ‘brass tacks’ issues: the freelance workstyle, communications trends, and practical matters such as fraud and scams.
-
The group acts as a clearing house for job opportunities. Almost any communications-oriented vacancy – whether for a traditional job or a freelance contract – can be fulfilled from within its ranks. Check out our member profiles.
